Follow these simple steps to upload files and folders from your local computer to a remote server using WinSCP.

Step 1: Open WinSCP

Launch the WinSCP application on your computer and log in to the remote server where you want to upload your files.

Step 2: Navigate to the Local Files or Folders

In the left panel (local computer), navigate to the files or folders that you want to upload. You can browse your computer's directories or use the address bar to quickly find the files.

Step 3: Select the Files or Folders to Upload

Click to select the file(s) or folder(s) you want to upload:

  1. For single files, simply click on the file you want to upload.
  2. For multiple files, hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) or Command key (Mac) and click on each file you want to select.
  3. For an entire folder, click on the folder to select it. You can also select multiple folders by holding down the Ctrl or Command key and clicking each folder.

Step 4: Upload the Files or Folders

Once you've selected the file(s) or folder(s) to upload:

  1. Drag and drop: Simply drag the selected file(s) or folder(s) from the left (local) panel to the right (remote) panel. Release the files in the desired folder on the remote server.
  2. Right-click and choose "Upload": Alternatively, right-click on the selected file(s) or folder(s) and choose Upload from the context menu. WinSCP will upload the files to the folder shown in the right (remote) panel.

Step 5: Wait for the Transfer to Complete

WinSCP will begin uploading the files and show the progress in the lower part of the window. Once the upload is complete, the files will appear in the folder you selected in the right panel (remote server).

Step 6: Access Your Uploaded Files

After the transfer completes, you can access the uploaded files directly from the remote server. Open the folder you chose in the right panel to find the uploaded content.

Important Notes:

  • If you are uploading a large folder, it may take some time depending on your internet speed and the folder size.
  • Make sure you have permission to upload files to the selected directory on the remote server.
  • If uploading a large number of files, consider using the Synchronize option for batch transfers.
