How to Set Up a cPanel Email Account in Mozilla Thunderbird

Follow these steps to set up your cPanel email account in Mozilla Thunderbird.

Step 1: Open Mozilla Thunderbird

If you haven't already, open the Mozilla Thunderbird application on your computer.

Step 2: Add a New Email Account

If this is your first time setting up an email account in Thunderbird, you should see the Account Setup window. If you already have other accounts set up, go to the top menu and click on Menu (three horizontal lines), then choose New and click Existing Mail Account....

Step 3: Enter Your Email Information

In the Account Setup window, enter the following information:

  1. Your Name: Enter the name you want others to see when they receive your emails.
  2. Email Address: Enter your full cPanel email address (e.g., yourname@yourdomain.com).
  3. Password: Enter the password you set for your cPanel email account.

Click Continue once you've entered this information.

Step 4: Choose Email Server Settings

Thunderbird will automatically try to configure your email account. If it doesn’t, you can manually enter the server settings:

  1. Incoming Mail Server (IMAP):
    • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Port: 993
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  2. Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
    • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Port: 465 or 587
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS

Ensure that both the incoming and outgoing mail servers are set to use SSL/TLS encryption for security.

Click Done after entering the settings.

Step 5: Test the Settings

Thunderbird will now test the account settings to ensure everything is configured correctly. If the test is successful, you will see a confirmation message. If not, double-check the server settings and try again.

Step 6: Complete Setup

Once the test is successful, your cPanel email account will be set up in Thunderbird. You can now start sending and receiving emails.

Step 7: Send a Test Email (Optional)

To verify everything is working, try sending an email to yourself. This will confirm that both sending and receiving emails are functioning properly.

That's it! You’ve successfully set up your cPanel email account in Mozilla Thunderbird.
