When your domain is first registered or transferred to us, it's automatically set up with temporary records that point to a parking page (the "This domain is parked" page you may have seen when visiting it). If you're ready to set up your own website, email, or hosting, you'll need to remove these temporary records first before adding your own — otherwise your new records may not take effect, or your domain may show conflicting results.
This guide walks you through removing them using our DNS Manager, available in your client area.
Before you start
This guide only applies if your domain is still using our default nameservers:
- nsw.name-servers.net.au
- nsx.name-servers.net.au
- nsy.name-servers.net.au
- nsz.name-servers.net.au
If your domain uses these nameservers, DNS is managed through our DNS Manager, and the steps below apply to you.
If your domain uses different nameservers (for example, if you've already set up hosting elsewhere, or your IT provider manages your DNS), your domain's records are not managed through our DNS Manager at all, and this guide doesn't apply. In that case, you'd need to remove/update the parking records directly wherever your nameservers point (your hosting provider or DNS host), not here.
How to check which nameservers your domain is using: log in to your client area, go to Domains → My Domains, and look for the "Nameservers" section. If it shows the four nameservers listed above, continue with this guide.
You only need to do this once per domain — after removing the default records and adding your own, no further action is needed unless you want to change your DNS again later.
If you're not sure whether this applies to you, contact our support team before making changes — removing the wrong record can temporarily take your domain offline.
Step 1: Log in to your client area
Go to your client area and log in with your account details.
Step 2: Open DNS Manager
Navigate to Domains → Managed DNS, find the domain you want to update, and click Edit next to it to open its DNS records.
Step 3: View your domain's records
After clicking Edit, you'll see the list of DNS records currently set up for that domain.
Step 4: Identify the default parking records
Look for the following records in the list:
| Type | Name | Points to |
|---|---|---|
| ALIAS (or A) | @ (your domain root, e.g. yourdomain.com) |
parked.fluccs.com.au |
| CNAME | www | parked.fluccs.com.au |
These are the temporary records set up automatically when your domain was registered/transferred.
Step 5: Delete the parking records
For each of the records identified above, click the Delete (or trash/bin icon) next to the record and confirm the removal.
Step 6: Add your own DNS records
Once the old records are removed, add the new records provided by whoever is hosting your website or email (your hosting provider, website builder, or IT team will usually give you exact values to enter). Common examples:
- A record pointing your domain to your server's IP address
- CNAME record pointing
wwwto your hosting provider's address - MX records if you're setting up email elsewhere
- Other DNS records: TXT, SRV ...
Click Add Record, select the record type, and enter the values exactly as provided to you.
Step 7: Allow time for changes to take effect
DNS changes typically take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24-48 hours to fully propagate, depending on your domain's TTL settings and various networks around the world. If your new site or email doesn't appear immediately, this is usually the reason - give it some time before troubleshooting further.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the DNS Manager option Confirm you're logged into the correct account, and that the domain is active (not pending or suspended). If you still can't see it, contact support.
I deleted a record by mistake Contact our support team as soon as possible - we can help restore the correct records for you.
My website/email still isn't working after adding my own records
- Double-check the values you entered exactly match what your provider gave you (no typos, correct record type).
- Confirm you deleted the old parking records — having both old and new records at the same time can cause conflicts.
- Allow up to 24-48 hours for full propagation before assuming something is wrong.
I'm not sure what records to add This depends entirely on where you're hosting your website and email. Your hosting provider or IT team should be able to give you the exact records needed - we're happy to help you enter them once you have those details, just reach out to support.
If you run into any issues at any step, our support team is happy to help - just reach out with your domain name and we'll take a look.
