Managing SmarterMail Accounts via the Web Interface (Domain Administrators) Print

If you are the Domain Administrator for a SmarterMail domain, you can manage all email accounts for that domain directly through the SmarterMail web interface. This allows you to perform tasks such as resetting passwords, creating or deleting mailboxes, managing aliases, and adjusting mailbox settings.

This guide explains how to access the SmarterMail interface and manage user accounts.


Logging Into the SmarterMail Web Interface

  1. Open your web browser and go to the SmarterMail login page.
  2. Enter your Domain Administrator email address.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Click Login.

Once logged in, you will be able to access administrative controls for your domain.


Accessing Domain Administration

  1. After logging in, click the Settings icon.
  2. Select Domain Settings.
  3. Click on Accounts.

You will now see a list of all email accounts configured for your domain.


Resetting a Mailbox Password

If a user has forgotten their email password, you can reset it using the following steps.

  1. Log in as the Domain Administrator.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Domain Settings.
  4. Click Accounts.
  5. Click the email address you want to modify.
  6. Locate the Password field.
  7. Enter the new password.
  8. Click Save.

The user can now log in using the new password.


Creating a New Email Account

  1. Log in as the Domain Administrator.
  2. Navigate to Settings.
  3. Select Domain Settings.
  4. Click Accounts.
  5. Click New.
  6. Enter the required details:
    • Email address
    • Password
    • Mailbox size (optional)
  7. Click Save.

The mailbox will now be active and ready to use.


Deleting an Email Account

  1. Log in as the Domain Administrator.
  2. Go to Settings → Domain Settings → Accounts.
  3. Select the email account you wish to remove.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Confirm the deletion.

Important: Deleting an account permanently removes all emails stored in the mailbox.


Managing Email Aliases

Aliases allow multiple email addresses to deliver mail to the same mailbox.

  1. Log in as Domain Administrator.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Domain Settings → Accounts.
  3. Select the mailbox.
  4. Locate the Aliases section.
  5. Add the alias address.
  6. Click Save.

Additional Management Options

Domain administrators can also manage:

  • Mailbox size limits
  • Email forwarding
  • Spam filtering settings
  • Autoresponders
  • User access permissions

These options are available when editing each mailbox from the Accounts section.
